Kin Workshop grew out of an ingrained compulsion to make. Kin is intrigued by the sculptural potential of textiles. Kin is interested in subverting material expectations. Kin vases are designed and made in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia by Kin’s sole designer/maker Isabel Deakin. The workshop loosely emerged early 2020 in Los Angeles, California. Each product is handmade with individually cut and hand-sewn pieces. Kin designs have emerged from years of developing and refining a technique of piecing together fabric to form three dimensional objects. This technique is inspired by the traditional craft of patchwork and informed by Isabel’s architectural training.

Kin Workshop acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Naarm/Melbourne, the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
